Sun-filled laughter was the ingredients on St Peter's Square on Saturday afternoon, when the highlight of the year at Ruthin, Top of Town, began its proceedings. With children, young people, adults, senior citizens looking forward to the event, it was great to see the sun shining. From the sounds of the Liverpool Samba School, Dr Jazz, Joe le Taxi, Elin Fflur and Y Moniars - there was surely enough to entertain the large crowd. The audience was on its feet when Moniars took to the stage, and the unique voice of Elin Fflur created a great atmosphere with her well known ballads. The old favourites by Dr Jazz were enjoyed and the talented Elsber dancers wowed the crowd later in the afternoon. With sleek organising, the artists appeared swiftly one after another on both stages, ensuring free non-stop music for six whole hours. Some in the crowd saw friends they only see annually at the Top of Town event. Others came to hear high standard professional musicians, free of charge and live, they came to socialise with friends and family giving the whole community the opportunity to enjoy as one! Top of Town 2007, at the heart of music, community events, and Ruthin.
The Festival would not be held without the hard work and determination of the steering committee - a small team of hard working volunteers. We are extremely grateful to them all.
