Ruthin Festival 2007

Big Bad WolfOn Thursday, over 450 primary school children were given the opportunity to see a musical drama at Theatr John Ambrose, performed by Theatr Na-nog, a company from Castell-nedd. The show The Big Bad Wolf was performed in Welsh and English. Big Bad WolfThe plot involved three fables, the three little pigs, little red riding hood and the seven kids, and the children were in awe watching the vibrancy, the flurry and hearing the songs on the stage. Thankfully, the big bad wolf only wanted to make friends, so the children left the Theatr happy in the knowledge that the wolf was kind hearted at the end. It was great to offer a drama performance as part of the Festival this year.

Classical Evening

A classical evening was held during the same evening at Capel Pendref, Ruthin, with the instrumental trio Ensemble Cymru making the most of the restful atmosphere at the chapel to perform their music. The evening was enjoyed by all.

Back at Theatr John Ambrose, a musical feast was held on Friday 6 of July, with the senior choir of Ysgol Glanaethwy, Bangor, accompanied by their close friend, Mirain Haf. With Mirain now making a name for herself in London, it was great to see her back on home ground entertaining in North Wales. The concert was amazing, with every seat filled, and the talent of these young people revealed in their varied menu of quiet disciplined pieces opposite vibrant, lively numbers. The chemistry between the young soloist and the choir when they performed together was second to none. The choir was a reflection of the hard and well-groomed work of of their tutors, couple Cefin and Rhian Roberts.
